Against The Voices is an indie-alternative band comprised of members Gabriel K. Hart and Nick Zimmerman.
In August 2012, Hart and Zimmerman founded the band Hello Heart. In 2015, Hello Heart released the 5-song “The Fight EP” produced by hit-songwriter and producer Eric Arjes and featuring the song “Heart of Winter” – recorded with three-time Grammy award-winning producer Mark Heimermann (DC Talk, Michael W. Smith, Jaci Velasquez). Songs from the EP received feature film placement and positive reviews from critics, and the group went on to open for bands such as Echosmith.
After exiting the group due to issues with management, Zimmerman and Hart began writing new material together in early 2016, each recording and sending demos back and forth over the internet (akin to The Postal Service and The Killers) from their respective locations in California and Minnesota.
In November 2019, the duo united in Nashville, TN to finish 3 singles with former collaborator Eric Arjes (Tim McGraw, Newsboys, Thompson Square) acting as executive producer and Jeff Braun (The Band CAMINO, Jason Aldean, Hunter Hayes) mixing and mastering the tracks.
The duo’s debut single “Don’t Talk About It” released April 10, 2020, followed by 5 subsequent singles “All My Friends Are Dead or Beets”, “Memories I Don’t Want”, “Better Man”, “What Happened at Midnight”; and “Father’s Day” in addition to a remix by Will Chapman of Colony House. “Happy Birthday” – another collaboration with Chapman was released November 1st, 2023.
